The program deals with the search for various cryptozoological creatures (cryptids) and paranormal entities reportedly witnessed around the world.

The purpose of the show is best described by the narrator in the introduction:
“ Witnesses around the world report seeing monsters. Are they real or imaginary? Science searches for answers...on Monster Quest. ”
