Parks and Recreation is an American comedy television series. It was co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, part of the creative team on The Office. Despite initial speculation it would be a spin-off of The Office, the two programs are not related beyond the fact both shows share a similar mockumentary style.

* Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), a "mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana" who hopes to advance her career and improve her town, while working towards her goal of becoming the first female president.
* Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones), a nurse who works with Leslie on a project to turn a construction pit into a park.
* Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider), Leslie's colleague and unrequited love interest.
* Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), a government official who changed his name from Aziz Abdul Al'Rahman to be more appealing in politics.
* April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza), Leslie's bored college-aged intern whom she hopes to inspire.
* Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), Leslie's superior at work. He is strongly anti-government and wishes to privatize the parks department.
* Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt), Ann's "loser musician boyfriend."
