eMule 0.50a Beta 1 released

It's been over a year since the last eMule update, but now the team has released a new version labeled eMule 0.50a Beta1. So if you care about trying out a bleeding edge version of the client, this is for you.

About 0.50a:

Dear eMule users,

it has been a long ride, but now we are finally halfway there We are once again happy to present you a new shiny version: eMule 0.50a. Many small but nonetheless important fixes and changes were made, but the main features of this new version are:

* Making eMules file verifying algorithm future proof by combining the ed2k hash with the AICH hash to identify and verify downloaded parts and files. This guarantuees that existing and newly found MD4 weaknesses will not affect eMules ability to deliver uncorrupted files in the future.
* Several GUI improvements, like supporting new taskbar features of Windows7, easier access to download commands by adding a new toolbar, a improved shared files dialog and a brand new Kad graph to look and wonder at
* Better usability in small LANs by adjusting Kad to such an environment and supporting highspeed uploads
* And as always fixing bugs and adding other small changes

Mixtape #1

Vodo.net does it again. Vodo presents MIXTAPE #1. Actual tape might be a thing of the past, but before P2P, mixtapes were the most popular way of sharing popular culture the world had known -- and once called the 'most widely practiced American art form'. We want to resuscitate the spirit of the mixtape for this VODO MIXTAPE series: compilations of our favourite shorts, the weird, the wild and the wonky, all brought together in a temporary and uncomfortable company.

Famously, 'Home Taping Is Killing Music' was the slogan of a 1980s anti-copyright infringement campaign by the British Phonographic Industry. The widely parodied slogan reflected the industry's concern that sharing by tape would destroy their business. Back then, punks used mixtape culture to spread their music through networks of fans. We hope the VODO MIXTAPE works the same way, to bring new creative works direct to fans through the culture of sharing. Peer to peer pressure!

Forum Account Activation

It has come to the crew's attention that users have not been receiving their activation e-mail for their account within the forum. We have been having some issues with our mail server lately where users have not been receiving their activation mail. Currently we are working on fixing this issue however until then, send one of the administrators a Private Message regarding your account and we'll manually activate it for you. I personally will be monitoring this problem closely so feel free to PM me to get your account activated.

New instructions for Xbox 360 game patching

This is a bit late, but worth mentioning. Since the release of the new iXtreme LT (Lite Touch) firmware for the Xbox 360, some things about the backup verifying have changed.

Fortunately these changes are not too big. These are the new backup verifying guidelines in a nutshell:
1. SS/DMI/PFI sectors need to be correct. The backups should validate by abgx360 just like before.
2. SplitVid needs to be added.
3. Backups should be injected with SSv2

Our staff has been very busy working on other parts of the site and hasn't been able to add a lot of releases lately. ShareReactor's Top Downloads of the Month December 2009

December was a big month for ShareReactor, tons of downloads and tons of traffic. Although a lot of the bandwith has been generated due to our torrents links, our eDonkey links still receive a lot of hits also. The month of December is a busy month for holidays and family time, however our team still managed to add hundreds of releases to better SR. Also our Alexa rating lowered to under 10,000 meaning our website is one of the 10,000 most visited sites (the current rank is 9,296). Our top download this month received over 22,000 downloads and it had only been on SR for 18 days! We have already been back on the internet for over a year and our traffic has been increasing more and more. We enjoy building and maintaining a strong site for new releases and old releases.
